ADELAIDE coach Brenton Sanderson expects former Melbourne coach Dean Bailey to have his name cleared of tanking allegations.
The AFL will soon detail what, if any, charges come from their investigation into claims Melbourne deliberately lost games when Bailey was their coach in 2009.
Bailey was sacked as Melbourne coach during the 2011 season and last year joined Sanderson's Crows in a newly-created role as strategy and innovation coach.
"I know the investigation is close to coming to an end, I'm really confident that Dean's name is going to be cleared,'' Sanderson said.
The Adelaide coach said his club had no contingency plan should Bailey be sanctioned by the AFL.
"In the 12 months that he has been working with us, he has been outstanding and I'm really thankful for the support he has given me,'' Sanderson said.
"Ask any one of our players or our football department staff: he is such a good football person.''
Meanwhile, Sanderson strongly defended Adelaide's sudden transformation from non-competitors in 2011 to pacesetters in 2012 on pure hard work as questions linger on the integrity of every AFL football program.
And the former Geelong assistant coach is also dismissing any doubts about how the 2007 Cats built up to be the formidable premiership team of that season.
As the Australian Crime Commission report on drugs and organised crime in Australian sport leaves many frustrated by the lack of specifics, Sanderson issued a definitive statement on the Adelaide Football Club being able to pass any integrity test.
"We are clean," said Sanderson declaring the ACC report was a "big shock" to him.
"What I see here, day to day, is we train hard and we recover well. The only supplement we take is protein."
Adelaide rose from 14th in 2011 with just seven wins from 22 games to rank second with a 17-5 win-loss count in the home-and-away season last year when Sanderson replaced Neil Craig as senior coach.
Sanderson is disappointed this sudden turnaround is now needing to be questioned because of the ACC findings being so vague to the public.
"We do things well and above board and legally," he said. "What I'm worried about is as soon as you see a group get stronger or a group get fitter, there is going to be that question mark.
"I hear people now on talkback radio questioning not just our club but every club. Why did they go so well last year? Or what do we attribute the sudden improvement? It is disappointing because our boys train hard and they play hard and we are a very professional club and do most things pretty well.
"I just hope we work really hard at clearing the name of our industry and we will not be tarnished."
