Round 3 marks the spiritual beginning of SuperCoach bragging rights, when teams go head-to-head in battles of fantasy attrition.

It's when rogue late changes can be the difference between a win and loss.

It's when substitutes can make or break your chances of Monday mayhem, ribbing your rival workmates,

So what happens now? Basically, your SuperCoach teams need to be spot on.

There's no room for captaincy blunders, recruiting brain snaps and wasted young guns on the pine.

A couple of things to keep in mind this week are:

DON'T MISS

Severe price hikes of early-season SuperCoach bolters.

Bulldog Brett Goodes ($128,200 def) set to jump $108,000 with a triple figure (105) score against Richmond on Sunday.

Suns Jaeger O'Meara ($115,900 mid) looking down the barrel of $98,200 increase with a score of 96 or better in QClash 5.

Demon Jack Viney ($109,500 mid) on track for an $82,500 increase based on a projected score 83 against West Coast.

Magpie Sam Dwyer (96,200 mid/fwd) will almost double his price (+$81,500) with 79.5 points against Hawthorn.

Power Lewis Stevenson ($115,900 def) must also score at least 79.5 points to earn $76,400 surge.

COULD BE CO$TLY

Players on the verge of having their price tags slashed after making a less than inspiring start to their 2013 campaigns.

Dropped - Demon Jack Watts ($460,100 def/fwd) faced with the prospect of $43,000 reduction after scores of 48 and 53.

Hawk Jarryd Roughead ($554,800 fwd/ruc) could shed as much as $42,200 unless he goes big against Collingwood.

Dropped - Lion Patrick Karnezis ($262,200 fwd) went from pinch hitting midfielder to substitute in two weeks. He is tracking to drop $18,700 with another below par performance.

In short, get it right this week, and let the good times roll.

LOCKOUT RULES

A rolling lockout is in effect this season, so fear not if your side needs some trading surgery. You only need to have your Dockers and Bombers locked in by Friday night, with each club locked out once the ball is bounced in their Round 3 clash.

CAPTAINS CORNER

Gary Ablett (GC)

Last week was an aberration… for Gazza at least. Don't expect him to score 99 points too many more times this year. Fear not Brisbane tagger Andrew Raines, Ablett has scored 130 and 150 in his past two against the Lion stopper.

Joel Selwood (Geel)

The skipper is on a tear averaging 131 points including 140 in match-winning effort against North Melbourne last week. He piled on 154 points against the Blues last year.

Scott Pendlebury (Coll)

Pendlebury looks ready for the captaincy tag after posting scores of 160 and 120 in his first two matches. The superstar midfielder boasts a three-game average of 133 points against the Hawks including 167 last time they met.

Others to consider include: Jarrod McVeigh, Lance Franklin, Scott Thompson (Adel), Matthew Pavlich and Sam Mitchell.

JUMP ON

Tom Liberatore (WB) $444,400 mid

Young Libba has exploded onto the AFL stage after disappointing end to his 2012 campaign. The hard-nosed midfielder is averaging 133 points per game and astonishingly is only in 0.82 per cent of SuperCoach teams.

Angus Monfries (PA) $356,700 fwd/mid

Gus looks to be enjoying his new lease on life at Port Adelaide, and it's paying early dividends. The former Bomber is averaging 107 points per game.

Josh Kennedy (WC) $299,600 fwd

Kennedy has enjoyed resurgence in 2013 after missing the bulk of last year with injury. The spearhead booted five goals in three quarters against the Hawks. And, can go on with it against the Dees on Saturday.

JUMP OFF

Patrick Karnezis (Bris) $262,200 fwd

Too big a risk now the vest has come into the equation. The boy from Oakleigh was touted as a SuperCoach special after a solid NAB Cup campaign pinch hitting in the midfield. Has struggled to date and was handed the vest last week. Give him the flick.

Travis Varcoe (Geel) $268,900 mid/fwd

Dual position status is a positive, but Varcoe just isn't scoring enough to warrant a spot in your best 22. He's played well but only scored 60s… how much more can he give?

Jack Watts (Mel) $460,100 def/fwd

Blind faith and SuperCoach doesn't mix. Pull the trigger, pronto!

SUPERCOACH Q&A

Send your SuperCoach questions to supercoachtips@heraldsun.com.au

Q) Hey guys who do you think I should get in the forward line, Rockliff or Rioli?
Thanks, Jarrod

A) Hey Jarrod, it's hard to go past Rocky given his ability to spend more time in the midfield this season. But as you know, Cyril offers plenty of X-factor.

Q)
Should I keep Jack Watts or sub Jasper Pittard on the ground and trade him?
Thanks, Toby

A) Pull the trigger on Watts. He's too pricey for little output.

Q) For a point of difference (POD) I selected Whitfield and Longer. I am considering downgrading Whitfield to Kommer, only solid midfield option as I have all other top rookies, except for Crouch.
Downgrade + bank + Longer = $464k for a ruck substitute. Who?? Leuenberger? All possible locks are over $500,000.
Or Longer to Currie ( have Blicavs) and upgrade Whitfield to Moloney? Cheers, Lincoln

A) It's a bit early to be abandoning POD game plan isn't it? Hang onto Whitfield (over Kommer), the kid can play and barring injury will be given plenty of chances. Consider the Moloney switch. As for your ruck situation, don't discount Hawk Max Bailey. Cheap and will play releasing the likes of Hale and Roughead around the ground. Don't think Currie will play enough to warrant his selection.

Karnezis dropped, but Fasolo, Daisy and co. back to put pressure on Dwyer. And so the headaches begin... #supercoach

‏@AFL_Supercoach
Well, if you were thinking of trading Watts or Karnezis no better time than now #supercoach

@Crankie82
No captains loophole for me this week, got all 30 playing this week. Yet to make a trade too #usedupallmyluck #supercoach

@BennyB11
Was a bit rash on Karnezis, given him a late reprieve. OUT - Bennell and Docherty. IN - Hannebery and Pittard. #supercoach

AFLFootyStar
Only 1 #supercoach trade for me. Wines in, toumpas out. Karnezis to the bench with longer and armstrong. Long season be patient...
