PORT Adelaide has lost ruckman Jarrad Redden for the rest of the season.
Redden has today undergone surgery on his right hip and will also need surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder in the next fortnight.
Redden tested the right shoulder he dislocated against the Western Bulldogs in Darwin in Round 10 at training yesterday but pulled up sore.
"Reddo would have required hip surgery post-season anyway, so given that we have made the call for him to have shoulder surgery soon, it's an opportunity to have his hip operated on now so that he is ready to resume pre-season training with the rest of the team," Power high performance manager Darren Burgess said.
"Today's surgery went well and after his imminent shoulder surgery we expect him to make a full recovery and be fit and ready for next season.''
Redden's surgeries leave 2007 first-round draft pick Matthew Lobbe to lead Port's rucks, with support coming from Hawthorn premiership player Brent Renouf and key forward Justin Westhoff.
